About Luisa Batista
I am a certified yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator and holistic health coach.
I work with clients both one-on-one or in group settings.
After attending yoga classes on and off for most of my adult life, I wanted to know more about the history and philosophy of yoga.
I became certified as a Yoga teacher (500hrs) and am now qualified to teach various styles of yoga, such as Hatha, Yin and Vinyasa, and meditation.
As my knowledge deepened, I became more and more aware of the mind-body connection.
Or rather, the body-mind connection. There are way more signals sent by the body to the mind than the other way around.
Yoga taught me to focus inwards. Becoming more aware of my body and mind, my habits and thinking patterns, has enabled me to change and become a more balanced and much happier person.
The body is designed to be moved and studies have shown that physical movement of any kind makes us feel better.
Just as many studies have proven the benefits of meditation.
I started to understand how our past experiences, continued stress and trauma can affect us both mentally and physically.
My own experiences in life and healing from trauma, are what inspired me to help other people do the same.
When we are feeling continually stressed or have experienced trauma, our breathing patterns change, constriction or tightness is held in the body and our nervous system is affected. All this results in changes in chemical or hormonal balance and can cause all kind of health problems.
By bringing our awareness inwards to our bodies and what we are feeling and witnessing, we can change what is being experienced in the body.
I was introduced to breathwork in 2018 when I attended a group session at a friend's yoga studio. This first session had a profound impact on me and started my own trauma-healing journey through breathwork.
Because of the major change breathwork initiated in me, I began to search for a greater understanding of the practice, and chose Bio-Dynamic Breath and Trauma Release.
By engaging in a conscious breathing and conscious movement practice, we can begin to unwind deeply held patterns and liberate our life force energy.
The body has the innate wisdom to heal itself when given a safe and supportive environment.
My goal is to support my clients to follow the wisdom of the breath and body to welcome profound healing and releasing.
